MEET THE MAKERS OF UP CIRCLE

In 2015, UpCircle was born from a thought: if we are throwing away a cafetiere full of coffee grounds every morning, how much is going to waste from coffee shops all over London? This turned out to be a lot, so they decided they will do something about it. They needed to find a way to give those coffee grounds a new lease of life, and this is where UpCircle was born.

UpCircle’s journey started from collecting coffee grounds from one coffee shop, and now they collect from hundreds of coffee houses across London! In the first batch of soaps, they managed to save 5 tonnes of aromatic chai spices from being thrown away.

As well as being 100% natural, UpCircle skincare range is also 100% brilliant. They believe that we shouldn’t have to choose between doing the right thing and getting the best results. With UpCircle you get to enjoy the uplifting benefits of nature’s own skin rejuvenators- and do the planet some good, too.

Each product within their range sources and rescues by-products from other industries-the food and drink industry in particular. In recent years, there has been a dramatic rise of natural, then organic, then vegan and cruelty free beauty, but UpCircle believes circular by-product beauty will be the next step.

 

UpCircle Mission

The circular economy is within the heart of what UpCircle is about. UpCircle also hints at ‘upcycling’, the process of making something better from things that already exist. UpCircle ultimate mission is to leave the world a better place than we found it by transforming ingredients that would otherwise be discarded into natural, organic beauty product that are better for you and better for the world.

The UpCircle story started with the idea of giving used coffee grounds a new lease of life. They have now transformed more than 250 tonnes of the stuff into their sustainable skincare. Their soaps give brewed chai tea spices a new beginning whilst their latest arrivals are made with discarded fruit stones. They believe all life is sacred and that is why they only use the finest plant based ingredients and never test on animals.
